The History of Wickliffe Academy
Wickliffe Academy was founded on April 8, 2011 in what was the former Joe’s Crab Shack. Vestiges of the popular restaurant include a 25 foot Great White Shark in the ceiling of the preschool room. Greg the Great White, has inspired much conversation in circle time! Prior to Joe’s Crab Shack, the building was the former “The Dock” which operated in the city of Wickliffe for many years.
The founders of Wickliffe Academy were not new to the child-care industry. They owned and operated another successful center in Richmond Heights until closing it in 2015. Focusing their attention on Wickliffe Academy, the founders invested in qualified staff, research based curricula and major improvements in the building resulting in a program that has been participating in the state rating system, Step Up To Quality, since 2005. Climbing from 1 stars years ago, Wickliffe Academy has been a 5 Star center for the last three years.

Most everyone will agree that the early years of life are the most precious for both parents and young children. As more of us enter the workforce, we find ourselves in a quandary: What to do with the children? At Wickliffe Academy, we provide you and your children with the absolute best care outside of your own home so that you can go to work or school at peace. Our goal is to make those first years of life fun, secure, and appropriately challenging in a warm environment.
To assist in delivering and maintaining our quality, our staff of professionals are committed to developing children and themselves. The staff has the best interest of the children as their top priority backed by educational degrees, specialized training and many years of experience in the early childhood education field.
